Apple’s new Magic mouse seems really fantastic. I have been using Apple’s Mighty Mouse for almost a year now and other than a few scroll wheel problems (always solved by speed scrolling by holding the mouse inverted), I have been really happy with the mouse. Meanwhile, I have also been hit by the multi-touch fever. The first gen Unibody MacBook Pro has me using the two finger and four-finger gestures regularly. The three finger gesture is really best used in Mail.app. (That reminds me, why aren’t there more applications with support for the gestures?)
One of the few people who I believe gives serious thought to his hardware purchase is Marco Arment (of Instapaper/Tumblr fame). His experience with Magic Mouse has left me leaning towards purchasing it. However, as a graduate student, my disposable cash is limited, if not non-existent. And having a working wireless mouse makes me ponder about the purchase.
For now, I have decided to hold my purchase, until I get a good deal (Black Friday? Christmas?) I wait (im)patiently.
